New Additions To The Game Of Chess

Machines are taking over our lives and they are also doing a good amount of the thinking for us. The game of Chess has reached a point whereby a computer can beat a human virtually anytime.

It is for this reason that I designed this new addition to the game of Chess. It starts with a new piece called TEMPLAR, a piece constructed so as to not disrupt the intent and majesty of the original game. TEMPLAR has a US copyright and is patent protected.

I am placing my idea on the web for a few reasons. One is to stimulate interest in ChessX. Another is to find a Game Board company, Toy Company or Entrepreneur interested in manufacturing this new piece and this new game. A simple way to do this would be to construct the piece and include two copies of it, white and black, with a booklet that could be sold in bookstores, toy and drug stores and over the internet. Call me. It’s your move!

Student Revolt in America

Fifty years ago, almost to the day, American forces illegally invaded the neutral country of Cambodia. As soon as news of this event was released, the students of Columbia University went on strike as a protest.

Within a day or two, scores more universities followed suit, and by the end of the week over 100 schools were effectively shut down. This event made such an impact, that Marc chose to document it as it occurred. Keep in mind that this essay was written by a 22-year-old senior at the University of Rhode Island, scratching the first draft out in his notebook on the kitchen table in his rental off Knowles Way by Scarborough beach in late May or early June, 1970
